Post-Christmas bargain shopping.

I’m not a big Christmas decorator, usually, but I do love to buy Christmas decorations. (I’m kind of the same way with cookbooks.) I also love to go to Target a week or so after Christmas.

This year I went to Target a week after Christmas with a couple of hours to kill, just to wander around and see what I could find that I might want for myself. No more present-pressure to worry about. I had no plan and no cares (it’s my favorite way to shop at Target).

Then I went nuts in the Christmas clearance aisles. Stuff I thought was silly to buy for $3.99 suddenly seemed like the bargain of the century at 99 cents (cookie cutters and a Santa candle). The trick is to remember that I bought them all the way to next Christmas.

My best buy, though, was a couple of packs of small red glittered balls. I knew the minute I saw them that I needed them for my extra glass canister on the kitchen counter. I bought two packs that were originally $5 each for $1.25 each.

Extra Canister

I think I can leave it on the counter all year-round. They’re very designer-y, don’t you think?

I think this looks FABULOUS. I would keep it up year-round! Then you’ll have to ramp up the Christmassy even MORE when December rolls around!

  1. When you put it that way, Schnookie… I dunno. I might be intimidating myself. :P
